What if I was in a long line to buy a hot dog and the lady in front of me asked for mayonnaise and mustard only? What if the clerk put the mustard on first and the lady threw a fit because she wanted the mayonnaise on first? What if the clerk obliged her, without any comment or look, and threw the bun away and put the mayonnaise on first on the new bun?
What if this was the only control this lady could exercise over her life? What if she had to control every aspect of her outer life because her inner life was in turmoil and she was doing the best she could to hold on?
What if it was none of my business and I just enjoyed my own delicious hot dog and my own life?
